Dr. Liron Biran-Nisenholz holds a BA in Theater and Education from Kibbutzim College of Education, and MA and Phd in Rabbinic Literature from the Department of Hebrew Literature at Ben-Gurion University. Her doctoral dissertation, written under the supervision of Prof. Haim Weiss, focuses on the literary significance of attics and rooftops in the stories of the Babylonian Talmud. Additionally, Dr. Biran-Nisenholz is involved in research conducted at Ben-Gurion University with funding from the Israel Science Foundation, examining the editorial directions in Bialik and Ravnitzky's "Sefer Ha'Aggadah" (The Book of Legends).
Alongside her academic work, Dr. Biran-Nisenholz serves as director of educational research and development at ANU - Museum of the Jewish People, and lectures in the field of Jewish culture. As a music lover, she also plays the drums with an amateur band.

02150 The Jewish Calendar in Israel - A Storyteller of Time and Place
The Jewish calendar and yearly cycle are among the richest to be found, comprising a variety of laws, rituals, narratives and traditions. Studying the Jewish calendar offers a glimpse into the Jewish timeline, dating back to Biblical times through every historical era up until the modern day, as well as the geography of the Jewish people who were, and still are, spread all over the world. The richness is felt in Israel in particular, to which Jews from all over the world brought their own customs, constructing a year-round blend of rituals and stories from various cultures and historical backgrounds. Throughout the course, the participants will have a chance to acquaint themselves with the Jewish and Israeli holidays through study of some of the primary sources that shape them and their historical and cultural background. While doing so, they will gain a better understanding of Israeli society
