Abbinic literature, and in particular - the Babylonian Talmud. Her research deals with the processes of formation, editing, and transmission of the Talmudic text, and the scholarly methods of the Talmudic sages.

Dr. Ella Tovia has An M.A and Ph.D in Talmud. Her doctoral Thesis, ‘Parallel Dialectical Structures in the Babylonian Talmud (The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, 2022), was written under the supervision of Dr. Yoav Rosenthal. She teaches at the School for Basic Jewish Studies starting from 2023.
Dr. Tovia's main areas of research and teaching are rabbinic literature, and in particular - the Babylonian Talmud. Her research deals with the processes of formation, editing, and transmission of the Talmudic text, and the scholarly methods of the Talmudic sages.
In addition, Dr. Tovia has a teaching certificate from the Kerem Institute for Jewish Humanistic Education in the fields of Bible and Jewish thought and has taught in various institutes – academic and others.
