Aliza Lavie, PhD, is one of the most recognized advocates in Israel today. Lavie is a former Member of the Israeli Knesset, public figure, social entrepreneur, writer and lecturer and Chairperson of the Israel Film Council.
Founder of the 120 Women Leadership Council that works to unite Israeli women.
Founder & CEO of BLNG, an interactive educational technology venture that connects users to their Jewish heritage.
Dr. Lavie served as chairperson of the Committee on the Status of Women and Gender Equality and chairperson of the Committee to Combat Women Trafficking and Prostitution in Israel’s Knesset. She is the recipient of the Outstanding Parliamentary Award for her contributions and groundbreaking legislation.
Lavie currently serves as senior lecturer at Bar-Ilan University and Ono Academic Center, chairperson of the Herzl Center, and general director of the Public Council for Youth Exchange.
She is the author of five books, including A Jewish Women’s Prayer Book which won the 2008 National Jewish Book Award. Her latest book is Iconic Jewish Women: Fifty-Nine Inspiring, Courageous, Revolutionary Role Models for Young Girls.
Lavie’s public activity focuses on the role of women in Judaism, Jewish education and identity, social and gender equality, the intersection between religion and state, reinforcing the connection between Israel and the Diaspora, and strengthening the image of the State of Israel as Jewish and democratic.
