Department Head's message
Since its inception Bar-Ilan University has committed to providing every Jewish student studying at the university and its off-campus facilities with basic knowledge in Jewish Studies via a unique program offered at the School for Basic Jewish Studies.
The School of Basic Jewish Studies is one of Bar Ilan University's core institutions.
The School of Basic Jewish Studies is located in the Jack and Gitta Nagel Moreshet Israel building, and teaches over 400 courses (including internet courses) in which over 20,000 students study.
These courses make Jewish Studies available to all students. Experts in each field of Jewish Studies who teach these courses, broaden their religious and secular BA, MA and PhD students' horizons, in an intellectual atmosphere of mutual respect. The four topics taught are: Tanach, Talmud-Oral Law, Jewish History and Jewish Philosophy.
